My Music
I enjoy performing at private events, especially weddings, anniversaries and birthdays, and
at special occasions held by local businesses. My spirited and heartfelt music draws from a range
of contemporary genres. I feature Love Songs, Blues, Swing, R & B, Bossa Nova, Samba, French, Spanish and Italian tunes, Originals and an ever-growing repertoire revealing a fresh perspective on the great popular songs that we all know and love. I enjoy writing songs about my own life and about many of life's joys and challenges that I believe we all share. Often I play as a soloist, however I also play duets and with larger ensembles, which include some of the finest instrumentalists in the area.
I started playing guitar at the age of 11. The guitar was practically as big as I was! I have always considered the guitar like a best friend. It is continually there for me, and no matter what life brings,
it allows me to speak my joys and woes through my fingers, and helps me vocalize whatever is on my mind. I fell in love with Joni Mitchell's music at a young age. I love her poetry and the way she combines jazz and pop styles. In college I discovered Pat Metheny's guitar music and eventually studied jazz guitar for about 12 years with Jack Eskridge in the San Francisco Bay Area. I took a long break due to a hand injury, and then resumed guitar again over 10 years ago. I am now studying Brazilian guitar styles with an incredible guitarist, Ian Faquini. Using vocal technique taught by some of the best, including Daria and Patti Cathart from the Bay Area, I aim to seamlessly blend vocals with guitar and to bring my own life journey into my performances.
